First hurricane Francis, and then came Jeanne...
This has been a terrible and trying time for all of us at EARS. The past few weeks have seen a spate of storms that have caused considerable damage to facilities. Both Gail and Jaye have had to contend with their ultimate fears - having to shoot one of their precious endangered animals if the damage caused by the storms allowed them to escape.
Luckily, it never came to such a disastrous conclusion, but the damage has been substantial. Frances itself devestated the turnouts, even uprooting many of the beautiful large oak trees. All of the cats were secure in their lockdowns, but there was always the possibility of a tree slamming into them and allowing a cat to escape.
But now, with the impact of hurricane Jeanne on top, the situation has only gone from bad to worse. All of the work we have done, and money spent as a result of Frances has gone. The cougar habitat is all but ruined...
As you can imagine, with all that has happened, our resources have been pushed to the limit, and we are desperately in need of funds.
Please - if you can help, we are greatful for any donation, no matter how large or small.
Everything we recieve will go towards the sanctuary.
